arrival of St.
Thomas at
Kodungalloor- with his only bag with bare necessities. He started a Balavady
(Nursery School) with 12 children. This was the humble beginning of the Bhilai
Mission which carries out different activities in the states ofMaharashtra,Madya-pradesh,Chattisgarh,Nagaland,Assam and West
Bengal in the form of
hundreds of Balavadies,Primary Health Centers, Societies for Social Works for Farmers, Tailors,
unorganized sectors etc and different missions like Makkodia. According to UN,
the mother- infant mortality rate inAsia was the highest
in Makkodia. After the establishment of Makkodia Mission, this has been
considerably reduced. Apart from these, Mar Theodosius established an EngineeringCollege, an Arts & ScienceCollege, 30 higher secondary schools, Secondary & Primary
Schools and all of them are maintaining high standards. Above all, these institutions admit students
without any capitation or donation. The
activities of the society aim to reflect these visions and mission of its
patron Mar Theodosius which will definitely motivate future generations for
doing so.
